The Group Wham! Kickstarted His Career
The story goes that Ridgeley and Michael met at school and became best friends over the years. They stayed friends and wrote music together, destined for something great. They invested a lot of money in a demo tape that was only four minutes long but eventually landed a record deal.

Michael recalled, “Andy started shouting something about wham bam, and all this, you know,” leading to the creation of the name. They wanted to think of something better but eventually stuck with the original idea as it seemed like a right fit at the time and a reflection of their style.
