Johnny Cash & June Carter (Past)
Johnny Cash, the country crooner, first met June Carter in 1956 at the Grand Ole Opry. At the time of their meeting, both of them were already married to different people. They remained with their spouses until 1966 and 1967, when each finalized the divorce with their respective partners.

Initially, they were cautious of each other, as Carter shared in a Rolling Stone interview, saying she was terrified of his way of life. At the London Ice House in February 1968, Cash asked Carter to marry him in front of a large crowd, and the two got married shortly after.
