During Barak Obama’s inauguration, Franklin’s hat caused quite the commotion just about everywhere. It was grey with a big bow on it. Detroit based, Luke Song sold out of that hat soon after the event because it garnered so much attention. While Obama was in office, Franklin was part of a Women of Soul Tribute at the White House.

However, when he introduced her, he made a teeny tiny mistake. He misspelled the word respect. Okay, I get it, things happen. But come on, she literally spells it out for us in her song, Respect. Anyways, former President Obama and Aretha Franklin have developed a friendship and remained that way until her death. Obama opened up about his feelings about the singer.
