The state of Michigan announced her voice to be a “national resource” in 1985. I’m not exactly sure what the means, but getting your voice called a national resource is quite the compliment.

In 1991, the singer was also awarded the Grammy Legend Award and the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award three years later. She earned top praise with the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2005. It’s clear the right people acknowledged Franklin’s unbelievable talent. She definitely has well-earned respect in the music industry.
