Her “Sudden” Death
In January of 2018, the singer chose actress Jennifer Hudson to play her in an upcoming biopic. On August 12th of that year, it was reported that Aretha Franklin was bedridden in her Detroit home because she was “gravely ill.” She was surrounded by family and friends. As soon as people found out about her condition, more stars, including Stevie Wonder and Jesse Jackson, expressed well wishes for the singer.

Sadly the singer ultimately passed away due to advanced pancreatic cancer. The family stated, “We have been deeply touched by the incredible outpouring of love and support we have received from close friends, supporters, and fans all around the world. Thank you for all your compassion and prayers…”
