Many rappers and hip-hop stars are notorious for being players and bad boys, never holding onto a relationship for long, and always looking for their next conquest. However, a loyal few have instead settled down in happy and long-lasting relationships with the women of their dreams.

These faithful wives and girlfriends don’t always have it easy. Being the wife of a successful rapper often means dealing with rumors of scandal and infidelity or worse. Despite the hardships, these couples have stayed together through thick and thin and even extramarital affairs and jail time.

Aisha Murray Atkins and Ja Rule

Aisha Murray married her high school sweetheart Jeffrey Bruce Atkins, aka Ja Rule, in 2001. The couple has three children together, Brittney, Jeffrey Jr., and Jordan. The two are known for their fun and free-spirited parenting style, which they call “new parenting.”

Aisha stuck by Ja Rule even while he served time in jail and had a rumored affair with a man. She didn’t leave him when Karinne Steffans claimed to be having a relationship with the rapper and reportedly didn’t believe Karinne’s allegations. However, Aisha has stated that she prefers Jeffrey, her high school sweetheart to Ja Rule, his rapper persona.

Shante Broadus and Snoop Dogg

Shante Broadus and Snoop Dogg were married twice. They too began their relationship as high school sweethearts in the 1980s and were married in 1997. Shante managed Snoop Dogg’s career when he was just starting out. However, in 2004, Shante filed for divorce due to Snoop’s infidelity.

In 2008, one of their kids, Cori, was diagnosed with lupus. Helping Cori through such a trying time brought Shante and Snoop back together. The couple renewed their vows that year and have remained together since. They have been together for over thirty years and have three children and one grandchild together.

Coco Austin and Ice-T

Coco Austin and Ice-T met in 2001, and they married just a few months later in 2002. Coco is famous herself for being a swimsuit model and actress. She and her rapper husband even had their own television show called “Ice Loves Coco,” which ran for three seasons on E!

Coco stood by Ice-T when he was mistakenly arrested in 2010 and was happy when the charges against the rapper were dropped. In 2011, the happy lovebirds renewed their vows on their wedding anniversary. Four years later, they had their first child, a girl named Chanel.

Eudoxie Mbouguiengue and Ludacris

Eudoxie and Ludacris met in Atlanta, Georgia, in 2008. The couple dated for six years, and in 2014 Ludacris proposed to Eudoxie. He popped the question while the two were on a private plane, and the words “Eudoxie, Will You Marry Me” were written on the ground below. The couple was married later the same day.

Eudoxie is a Gabonese model and the founder of a non-profit organization called UnSpoken Angels. Ludacris was reportedly unfaithful to Eudoxie, but they have moved past his indiscretions and have two children together. Their first daughter, Cadence, was born in 2015, and their second, Chance, in 2021.

Kimberly Woodruff and Ice Cube

Kimberly Woodruff and Ice Cube met back in 1988 but only started seeing each other about six months after their initial encounter. In 1991, Kimberly gave birth to their first child together, and a year later, they tied the knot. Since then, they have had four more children and are even grandparents.

O’Shea Jr., their oldest son, is also a rapper called OMG and played his father in the 2015 film “Straight Outta Compton.” The kids seem to have followed in their talented father’s footsteps seeing as O’ Shea Jr.’s brother Darrell is also a rapper.

Simone Johnson and LL Cool J

LL Cool J met Simone Johnson through a friend in the 1980s when the rapper was just 19 years old and was immediately taken with her. The longtime lovers were married in 1995. They have three daughters and one son; Nina Simone, Samaria Leah Wisdom, Italia Anita Maria, and Najee Laurent Todd Eugene.

In 2004, Johnson was diagnosed with bone cancer, and her loving husband took a step back from his career to stay by her side and help her through her illness. Simone went through surgeries and chemotherapy and finally beat her cancer and has been in remission since.

Beyoncé Knowles and Jay Z

Power couple Beyoncé and Jay Z first met in 1999, when Bey was just eighteen and still part of Destiny’s Child. They began dating a year later but were only married in 2008. In 2011, Beyoncé gave birth to their first child, a daughter named Blue Ivy.

However, even these two stars have had their fair share of rocky patches. In 2014, Jay Z and Solange, his wife’s sister, got into a public fight which spurred rumors that the star was cheating on his partner. In 2018, Jay admitted his infidelity. Both he and Beyoncé have songs about his cheating.

Crystal Slayton and Paul Wall

Crystal Slayton and Paul Wall met around 2000 and were married in 2005. They are still together today. The couple has two kids together, William and Noelle. Both Paul and Crystal are advocates for healthy living and fitness and have regained great shape through healthy eating and exercise.

Crystal has a family YouTube Vlog, where she shares healthy recipes and leads workout routines. Crystal also appeared in the E! special “Rappers Wives: The True Hollywood Story” in 2009 and encouraged the de-stigmatization of rappers and their wives, claiming that they are nothing like their stereotypes.

Tameka “Tiny” Cottle and T.I.

“Tiny” Cottle and rapper T.I. have been dating since 2001 but have known each other since high school. Known for singing in the group Xscape, Tameka was nicknamed “Tiny” because of her height. Tiny and T.I. have two sons and a daughter together. The singer stayed with her husband through numerous incarcerations and arrests.

In 2010 Tiny was even arrested with T.I., although only he served jail time. The two had a reality show about them and their family called “T.I. & Tiny: The Family Hustle.” The show spanned six whole seasons before it was canceled in 2017.

Tashera Simmons and DMX

Tashera Simmons married Earl Simmons, better known as DMX, in 1999. The two were childhood friends and stayed together for many years. They had four children together, but DMX had ten other children with other women, some of whom were born while he and Tashera were married.

Tashera separated from Earl in 2010 after he got out of jail. He was incarcerated two more times the same year. DMX was a drug addict with a long history of substance abuse, altercations with the law, and notorious feuds with other rappers; he died in April 2021 of a presumed drug overdose.

Justine Jones and Rev Run

Legendary DJ and rapper Rev Run, born Joseph Ward Simmons, married his second wife, Justine Jones, in 1994. Run had three children before marrying Justine and three more kids with Justine, two boys, and a girl. Sadly, their daughter died soon after she was born. Later, the couple adopted a baby girl.

Both members of this longtime duo have had booming careers. Run is not only a DJ and a rapper, but he is also an actor, producer, and an actual minister, known as Reverend Run. Justine is an actress, a writer and has her own line of jewelry.

Nicole Tuck and DJ Khaled

Khaled and his wife, Nicole Tuck met in the 90s but only started dating years later. The couple dated for years before making it official in 2016 after the birth of their first child. DJ Khaled reportedly wanted to be sure he was financially secure before settling down and getting married.

In 2016 Nicole gave birth to their first son while Khaled excitedly documented the whole labor on Snapchat. In 2020 the couple had their second kid, also a boy. Tuck studied fine arts and even had her own clothing brand “ABU Apparel.”

Marie Claudinette Jean and Wyclef Jean

Marie Claudinette and Wyclef Jean met when they were very young and married in 1994. Claudinette was older than Wyclef, and he looked up to her and admired how established she was, already working as a model in New York. Claudinette believed in young Wyclef and knew he would succeed.

At the beginning of their relationship, Wyclef was unfaithful to Claudinette, going behind her back with his bandmate Lauryn Hill. In the end, he ended his affair with Lauryn, and in turn, The Fugees broke up. Wyclef and Claudinette adopted a daughter in 2005 and are still happily married.

Nicole Young and Dr. Dre

Though they are no longer together, Nicole Young and Dr. Dre deserve an honorable mention, having stuck together for twenty-four years of marriage. Nicole and Dre met in the 1990s while she was married to NBA star Sedale Threatt. She left Threatt after four years and married Dr. Dre in 1996.

Nicole stood by Dre’s side through the ups and downs of his career, family tragedies, alleged infidelity, and much more. They have two kids together, named Truice and Truly. In 2020, Nicole filed for divorce from Dre, citing irreconcilable differences.

Sherlita Patton and Big Boi

Big Boi, half of the iconic duo Outkast, met his wife, Sherlita Patton, in the 1990s. The lovebirds were married in 2000. They have two kids together, a girl and a boy. Despite their resilience, these two have not always been happy together. In 2013, they went through a hard time and almost divorced.

Sherlita was sick of hearing rumors about her husband’s infidelity and wanted to call it quits. However, midway through the court case, the couple decided to ditch their divorce and solve their problems. They seem to have reconciled since they are still together today.

Melissa Heholt and J. Cole

Jermaine, or J. Cole, and Melissa Heholt were married in 2015 but had dated for years while attending St. John’s University in Queens together. The couple prefers to keep their personal life hidden from the public. However, it is common knowledge that they have two children together, and Melissa is an events planner.

Together the couple runs a non-for-profit called the Dreamville Foundation. Their foundation raises money to help underprivileged youth in North Carolina, Cole’s home state. Although he hasn’t revealed much about their relationship in interviews, J. Cole has hinted at his devotion to Melissa in his songs.

Whitney Alford and Kendrick Lamar

Kendrick Lamar and Whitney Alford have been friends since grade school and started dating while at Centennial High School back in Compton. In 2015, Lamar finally proposed to his longtime love, and in 2019 they welcomed their first child into the world, a girl.

Whitney is a makeup artist and esthetician and has a degree in accounting from the University of California. The duo hasn’t officially tied the know but has been engaged for years. Kendrick has stated that Whitney is his best friend and described himself as “loyal to the soil.”

Tracey Stevens and E-40

E-40, born Earl Stevens, met his wife Tracey in the late 1980s and married her in 1991. The duo met when they were high school students and have been together ever since, going strong for more than thirty-five years. Stevens confessed that he’s had had a crush on Tracey since the eighth grade.

The longtime love birds have two sons together and enjoy going bowling as a family. Their boys have followed in their dad’s footsteps and are both rappers as well. One of them raps under the name Droop- E, and the other uses the name, Issue.

Asiah Azante and Kid Ink

Kid Ink, born Brian Todd Collins, and Asiah Azante have been coupled for more than ten years. Brian knew the fitness model far before their careers kicked off, all the way back in high school. Kid proposed in Paris in 2015, and the two got married in 2016 in Hawaii.

Their first daughter, Aislin Parvaneh, was born in 2016 and attended their wedding. Asiah and Aislin even go on tour with Kid Ink. However, they get their own family bus, while the rest of the musicians get another bus because a regular tour is no place for a toddler.

Jayda Cheaves and Lil Baby

Rapper Lil Baby and entrepreneur Jayda Cheaves met in Atlanta, Georgia, in 2016. They were introduced through Jayda’s sister and started dating. Their relationship has been pretty rocky, with a few breakups and numerous cheating scandals and rumors. In 2019, the couple had their first child, Loyal Armani.

However, even having a child together didn’t help them stay together, and they broke up again about a year after Loyal was born. Rumor has it that they have reconnected recently, but it hasn’t been confirmed. Both parties agree that they are on good terms and are co-parenting their son.

Nicki Minaj and Kenneth Petty

Nicki Minaj met her husband Kenneth Petty back in high school and the two even dated for a while before she became famous. They lost touch for a time, and Nicki was linked with different men like Safaree Samuels and Meek Mill. However, in 2018 the high school sweethearts reconnected and rekindled their love.

Chrissy Teigen and John Legend

Musician John Legend met his supermodel wife Chrissy Teigen around 2006 on the set of the music video for his song “Stereo.” They fell in love and started dated right away; however, they went through a rough patch before getting back together. Aside from being a talented rapper herself, Lil Kim was notorious for dating famous rappers in her youth. She even had an affair with the Notorious B.I.G. While working with his group, Junior M.A.F.I.A., she met Mr. Papers. The two started dating in 2012 but didn’t stay together long.

Cardi B and Offset

Cardi B and her husband Offset met in 2017. They got engaged in October of the same year. The two were secretly married in 2017. In 2018 Cardi gave birth to their first child, a girl. Later that year, the two temporarily split up but got back together in 2019.

Keyshia Ka’oir and Gucci Mane

Gucci Mane met his wife Keyshia Ka’oir in 2010 on the set of his music video “911 Emergency.” Mane saw Ka’oir in a magazine and became smitten, asking his casting director to book her for the video. Ka’oir is an entrepreneur and was promoting her multimillion-dollar cosmetics company.

Hayley Baldwin and Justin Bieber

In 2013, 2 Chainz proposed to his longtime girlfriend Nakesha Ward, or as he calls her Kesha, at the BET awards. However, the two didn’t actually go through with their marriage back then. 2 Chainz wasn’t deterred and publicly got down on one knee again on the Met steps at the 2018 Met Gala.

Michelle White and Childish Gambino

Michelle White and actor and musician Donald Glover Jr., or Childish Gambino, started dating in 2013. They welcomed their first son, Legend, in 2016. They had another child named Drake in 2018. In 2020, Michelle gave birth to their third child, Donald Glover III, after Donald Jr.’s late father, Donald Sr.
