Mixed Reviews
Despite the album being arguably one of Rod’s most personal and honest to date, it was met with mixed reviews. One critic wrote that Rod is “in a decidedly looser frame of mind” compared to his mindset when he released his previous album Time.
A writer for Classic Rock Magazine said that Rod has “always been a master interpreter of other people’s material” and described the opening track as an atmospheric ballad which isn’t necessarily a bad or a good thing. American Songwriter magazine said “a few moments almost save this from moving into the “better luck next time” pile.”
