After 20 years, Beyoncé and Jay-Z are still googly-eyed for each other and altogether inseparable. Acknowledged as music’s legendary power-couple, Queen B and rapper Jay Z were already well-established individuals when they first crossed paths at the MTV 2000 Spring Break festival in Cancun, Mexico.

Though their eyes caught instantly, the couple didn’t start dating until two years later. At the time, Beyoncé was taken by her first boyfriend, Lyndall Locke. Despite this, she occasionally dialed up Jay Z for a friendly chat, which was later said to be the building block of their relationship.
