Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love: A Strange but True Love Story

Pick-Up Lines and Floor Tussles

Her first line (and I guess you can call it a pick-up line) was meant to be a small insult with a sprinkle of flirting. And the truth is, Kurt did look a bit like Pirner, with his long, tangled hair that he washed just once a week, and only with bar soap. Kurt fired back with an insult/pick-up of his own: he literally grabbed Courtney and wrestled her to the ground.

“It was in front of the jukebox,” Courtney recalled of their first moment together, “which was playing my favorite song by Living Color. There was beer on the floor.” While she was glad her line got his attention, she didn’t expect it to land her on the floor to wrestle with this scrawny blonde kid. To his discredit, Kurt didn’t count on her being so tough (she was three inches taller than him and a lot stronger).
