The music scene in North Dakota is so meager that you can’t really say that there is even a music scene there. Some showbiz relics include Lawrence Welk and Peggy Lee, who were from North Dakota. Bobby Vee, from Fargo, was a music artist/teen idol in the early ‘60s.

The rapper Wiz Khalifa (whose real name is Cameron Thomaz) represents Pittsburgh pretty hard, but he was actually born in the city of Minot. Khalifa’s family was in the military at the time of his birth, and they were based in North Dakota. He’s earned an impressive nine Grammy nominations and won three Billboard Music Awards.
