Love at First Sight
Lenny first met Lisa Bonet in a backstage elevator during a New Edition concert in 1985. At the time, Lenny was still a struggling musician while Lisa was a bonafide star for her role as Denise Huxtable on The Cosby Show. The two hit it off instantly. “She was like a female version of me,” the singer told Rolling Stone magazine in 1995.

“That woman inspired me so much. It was a magical time that she and I shared. I just opened up artistically.” Although there were instant sparks, the former couple says that the first two years of their relationship remained platonic. Lenny was busy jump-starting his career, and Lisa was focused on breaking out of her squeaky-clean image.
