Although his parents had several Hollywood connections, Lenny was determined to succeed as a musician independently. He lived out of a rented car, which cost him $5 a day. Although his situation wasn’t ideal, Lenny’s parents and grandparents encouraged the singer to follow his own path. “You don’t always get that from your elders,” he told Men’s Health in 2014.
