Bret Michaels is known as the lead singer of Poison and for his reality dating show, Rock of Love. That’s why it comes as no surprise that he has a lot of exes. And when I say a lot, I mean this guy really made his way around Hollywood. From models to actresses, he had them all.
Have you ever wondered who he actually dated? Well, this one is for you. Since he broke up with his ex-fiancée Kristi Lynn Gibson, the rock star seems to be enjoying life as a bachelor. But in his prime, this guy dated everyone, from Pamela Anderson to Miley Cyrus’s mom, Tish.
Here is Bret Michaels’ dating history, and we also included some interesting facts about the rock star.
Bret Michaels first got together with Canadian actress Kristi Gibson back in April 1994. The pair were engaged in December 2010, but unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to last forever. The on-and-off couple separated by July 2012 before walking down the aisle, but not before having two children together: Raine Elizabeth was born in 2000, and Jorja Bleu was born in 2005.
Kristi is now 50 years old but is mostly remembered for starring in 1998’s A Letter From Death Row. She hasn’t done any acting gigs in a while, though. It looks like these days the 50-year-old mom is focused on raising her family.
In 2008, Destiny Sue Walker and Bret Michaels had their first encounter. Destiny was the second runner-up for the second season of Rock of Love with Bret Michaels. Rumor has it, the pair briefly dated for a hot minute.
If you didn’t know, Destiny Sue Walker is a clothing designer and television personality known for her appearances in Rock of Love 2, I Love Money, and Rock of Love: Charm School. She is also an exotic dancer and posed nude for Hustler magazine in September 2011. These days, she seems to be staying away from the spotlight.
But that wasn’t Bret’s only crush in 2008. Reportedly, around the same time, Bret Michaels hooked up with Houston-born actress Devanny Pinn. However, this romance was also short-lived, and their relationship wasn’t that serious.
Devanny Pinn is a stunning starlet known for her independent work in horror cinema. She has been performing since the age of three, appearing in ballets and musicals; so, she certainly has experience in front of an audience. Now 32, her latest acting roles were in two 2019 movies, the sci-fi Crossbreed and the horror flick The Dawn.
Bret Michaels was not shy on the second season of his dating show Rock of Love with Bret Michaels. In 2008, he was seen getting cozy with contestant Aubry Fisher. However, you might even recognize her from a few films as she dabbled in acting.
You may not have known she is a talented actress, but Fisher is known for her work on Rock Your Shakespeare (2016), Unhappily Ever After (1995), and Till Be Determined (2016). The now 44-year-old has also stepped out of the spotlight in recent years.
From 2007 to 2008, Bret Michaels had a fling with actress Ambre Lake. Apparently, the two really wanted to make their relationship work, but it just wasn’t meant to be. According to Ambre, they were both super busy and just didn’t have a lot of time to dedicate to their relationship. They came to a mutual breakup but were both bummed about it.
Ambre Lake grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, before heading over to Hollywood. She is best known for her performances in Eden Court (2008), Dead End Road (2004), and From Venus (2005).
Television personality Brandi Cunningham hooked up briefly with Bret Michaels back in 2007, while she co-starred in Rock of Love with Bret Michaels. Surprise, surprise. After that, she decided to get into the porn industry and appeared in several adult films under the name Brittany Burke.
In 2008, the New Jersey native continued her reality television career, appearing in two VHI reality shows: I Love Money and Charm School 2: Rock of Love. Nowadays, the 39-year-old apparently lives a quiet life in Orlando, Florida and hasn’t been in the spotlight much.
If you watched Season One of Rock of Love with Bret Michaels, chances are you remember the winner: Jessica Rickleff. She and Brett Michaels fooled around for a while in 2007. However, you also may remember that things didn’t work out between then, and they really had it out during the Season One reunion special.
Jes quickly realized that the spotlight wasn’t for her. She completely avoided the cameras after her reality television stint. Lacey Sculls, another woman who dated Bret Michaels on the show, hosted the Talk of Love podcast and was hoping to get Jes on her show to talk about her reality show experience; she was less than willing to participate.
Brandi Mahon is yet another Brandi that Bret Michaels met and dated from his show, Rock of Love with Bret Michaels. Like many of his other relationships for the show, it didn’t last forever. She also kind of disappeared after her reality television stint.
On the show, she was known by the nickname “Blowjob Brandi,” burping and farting and almost barfing on Bret. Her time on the show was clearly not her proudest moment. She won charming, dabbled in porn, and then kind of vanished from the spotlight. It’s unclear what she has been up to lately.
Heather Chadwell launched her reality show stardom as a contestant on Rock of Love with Bret Michaels back in 2007, and the two of them certainly got cozy. The pair didn’t last, but that doesn’t mean Chadwell didn’t capitalize on her 15 minutes of fame.
The aspiring actress was born in Columbus, Ohio but got a taste of Hollywood and is known for a few acting roles in Dog Eat Dog (2016), The Country Singer (2007), and Californication (2007). She is now 46 years old and seems to be keeping a low profile.
Cindy Steedle’s claim to fame is being a contestant on Rock of Love with Bret Michaels back in 2007, and the two seemed to hit off. Unsurprisingly, their fling ended just as fast as it started. But she captivated viewers with her steadfast attitude and charming affection.
She is skilled, experienced, and successful in her physical fitness career. This includes modeling, training classes, music videos, magazines, and more. But the extraordinary woman defeated death and her battle with cancer and paralysis from a diving accident in the 1988 Olympics. If that’s not impressive, I don’t know what is.
Although reality television is her claim to fame, Daisy de la Hoya actually has talent in her blood. The California girl’s uncle is the champion boxer Oscar de la Hoya – but she didn’t even know that until she was 12.
Unfortunately, Daisy’s 15 minutes of fame wasn’t really extended. She dated Bret Michaels briefly, but she has gone through a lot of challenges in her life and has been open about her substance abuse after her stint on Rock of Love. But we are happy to report that in 2016, Daisy revealed she has been sober for two or three years.
Denise Story is relatively unknown. She and Bret Michaels dated back in 1995, way before his popular dating show. She was just one of the women on the rock star’s string of ladies, but she didn’t gain reality show fame from their short time together.
Denise keeps an extremely low profile, and it’s unclear what she has been up to. Since she wasn’t a contestant on the show or working in Hollywood, it makes sense that nobody really knows who she is, but I really wonder how she’s doing these days.
American actress Peggy Trentini also had a romance with Bret Michaels before his dating reality show. They two had an encounter back in November 1994, but like the others, it didn’t last forever. The pair broke up shortly after getting together.
The blonde bombshell began modeling as soon as she got out of high school (which comes as no surprise as soon as you look at her). In 1982, she started appearing in movies and played 25 roles until 2002, when she retired from acting. She was married to Rock bassist Dana Strum, and they were married for five months before divorcing in 1992.
Canadian actress and model Pamela Anderson is another starlet who needs no introduction. She and Bret Michaels dated from 1994 to 1995. The two were involved in a sex tape that was later leaked. After they split up, neither of them had problems in the romance department.
Anderson was famous for her good looks and her sex appeal in the hit show Baywatch (1992-1997). She is also known for her numerous appearances in Playboy Magazine. The now 53-year-old actress continues to act, and she even appeared in The Hills: New Beginnings, starring her son, Brandon Lee.
Bret Michaels dated actress Cindy Rome way back in 1988. They didn’t date for very long, but they met through friends in the Hollywood circle. Although Cindy isn’t very famous now, in the ‘80s and ‘90s, she was working as an actress.
She has appeared in several films and videos, including Knot Outs (1992), Banzai Runner (1987), Electric Blue 51 (1987), Foxy Food Fight (1987), Hateman (1987), Foxy Boxing (1986), Shape Up for Sensational Sex (1985) and Battling Beauties (1983). In recent years, she has been extremely private, so it’s unclear what she is up to nowadays.
Bret Michaels started dating singer Susie Hatton in 1988, and he popped the question two years later. By December 5th, 1990, the engaged couple were excited for their future together, but they eventually broke up in 1993. That’s a long engagement.
He certainly has a type considering Susie Hatton was also a Baywatch hottie. The actress is also known for her roles in movies like Titans (2000) and Poison: Fallen Angel (1988). She was married two times, to Drew Phillips and Scott Crago. She has also been under the radar in recent years.
Bret Michaels began dating stunning model Tracey Crosby in 1984, and their relationship lasted four years before splitting up in 1988. Although she was modeling when she was dating Michaels, she is no longer in the limelight.
Like a few others on this list, she also keeps an extremely low profile. It’s really hard to find much information about what she has been doing since her modeling days, but it’s safe to say she is living a quiet, private life far away from the Hollywood lights and cameras.
If you don’t know, Tish Cyrus is the mother of superstar Miley Cyrus who was married to country singer Billy Ray Cyrus for 19 years. The couple also has two other children together, Noah Lindsey and Braison Chance.
She also has two children from her previous relationship with Metro State singer Baxter Neal Helson: a son, Trace, and a daughter, Brandy. They both go by the last name Cyrus. But before she was the mother of a famous music family, she reportedly dated Bret Michael. Wow, he really did date everyone…
Shauna O’Brien is a Hollywood starlet who worked as both a model and actress. You probably recognize her since she played the part of Omag’s woman in the Star Trek: The Next Generation, fifth season episode, “Unification II” in 1991.
Well, there was a time where she was involved in a relationship with Bret Michaels. From models and actresses to sex symbols and reality show contestants, this guy certainly had his fun dating in Hollywood. But I’m sure he had other relationships with more famous ladies but kept them a secret.
When Bret Michaels was just six years old, he was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. He’s aware of the dangers of his condition and stays healthy with exercise and monitoring his food. He also takes daily insulin shots and tests his blood sugar levels every hour.
He takes really good care of his health, especially after his brain hemorrhage. He stated: “I’m feeling awesome. I’ve got my diabetes good. It’s a daily battle, but I feel good. I just had a check-up that I go to about twice a year after the brain hemorrhage. That’s doing awesome.”
In 1983, he formed the group Poison with guitarist Matt Smith, bassist Bobby Dall, and drummer Rikki Rockett. The lineup was later completed when guitarist C.C. DeVille joined them. The successful band has sold more than 45 million records worldwide and has six top ten songs in the United States.
So, here’s the big question, how many bandanas does Bret Michaels actually own. In the singer’s own words, “I have a virtual plethora of all shapes and sizes and colors. We’re talking at least in the thousands. I’m a huge collector.”
In 2010, Donald Trump made Bret Michaels his latest protegee when he won The Celebrity Apprentice 3 for his chosen charity, The American Diabetes Association. Three years later, the singer returned to the show for the “All-Star” version, but this time he didn’t fare as well. Unfortunately, he was the first celebrity to be eliminated.
For the 2010 cover of Billboard Magazine, the rock star bared it all. He was featured wearing nothing but a bandana in their Maximum Exposure issue. The issue sold out in record-breaking time, and in order to satisfy the public demand, the publishers had to rush to produce more copies.
Although he is known for his music, Bret has dabbled in other endeavors such as designing. He designed a range of rock and roll pets. His “pet rock” company includes everything you might need from feeding bowls, collars, and even dresses for your pet.
Bret Michaels teamed up with actor Charlie Sheen in 1998, and they established a film production company called Sheen/Michaels Entertainment. Their first project was the film, A letter from Death Row, which Michaels wrote, directed, starred in, and provided the soundtrack for. His girlfriend at the time, Kristi Gibson, also played in the movie.
As we mentioned, Bret Michaels has dated plenty of women, but his longest and most serious relationship was with the mother of his children, Kristi Lynn Gibson. Although they dated on and off for 16 years and were engaged, the pair never tied the knot.
That doesn’t mean that they don’t have a beautiful family together. Their two daughters are Raine, who is 21, and Jorga, who is 16. Despite not getting married and not being in a relationship, Michaels and Gibbins have done a great job co-parenting and raised two amazing young girls.
Tish Cyrus isn’t the only one in the family who has been associated with Bret Michaels. That’s right. Pop sensation Miley Cyrus worked with him on some music. Don’t worry; she didn’t date her mother’s ex-fling. Their relationship was strictly business, considering Miley was a minor at the time.
For her 2010 album Can’t Be Tamed, Miley collaborated with the rock star in a racy song called Nothing Left to Lose. Miley is also known to frequently cover Every Rose Has Its Thorn, Poison’s mega-hit from the ‘80s.
Poison actually shot one of their music videos in Detroit: “The video for Ride the Wind, we shot that in Detroit. We shot it at Joe Louis Arena, two nights in a row.” There is a reason for that; Michaels has a lot of connections in Detroit.
According to the singer, “I have lots of family and friends there. My uncle Bob is a firefighter in the area. A first responder. I’ve said many times there’s a big connection between Detroit and where I’m from, Pittsburgh. There is a lot of likenesses. Good, hard-working people.”
At the beginning of his career, the rock star would buy beer for his fans in Detroit who would come to watch Poison play. “Back in the day, we first played Blondies in Detroit. It only had a couple of hundred people. I remember we played there late in the afternoon in the summer, and there were probably 20 people.”
He continued, “No one knew our record yet. I had to buy the people in the bar beers and ask them to come up close to the stage. The next time we played, there was a Harpos and the Ritz. We truly paid out dues.”
Michaels explained that anything could happen at a Poison concert. He doesn’t even know what’s coming most of the time. “When it works on stage, there’s a certain energy that’s undeniable. That’s 95% of the time. Then there’s the 5% of the time when it goes bad that are fistfight bad,” Michaels said.
“You never know when a knock-down-drag-out can happen on stage with us. It has happened. But it’s a lot of fun performing with these guys. With that said, you never know what you’re going to get. We are truly one of the live bands out there. What you see is what you get. I think that’s what makes us great live. We do it without a net. Some nights we’re calling audibles constantly.”
No matter what happens, all the Poison band members have remained good friends; nothing can break their special bond. “We grew up together, except for C.C., but I’ve known him my whole adult life. No one makes me laugh harder,” Michaels expressed.
“There will always be that bond. We laugh and joke at rehearsals. As I said, 95% of the time, it’s awesome. 5% of the time, when it goes bad, it goes really bad. Knock out a tooth bad.” This sounds like a sibling relationship, in my opinion. They really act like brothers.
Believe it or not, Poison isn’t in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. But Michaels has connections that made the cut. “So, my Every Rose Has Its Thorn guitar is in the Rock Hall, but the guy that made it is still waiting (laughing). You know I would be beyond proud,” the singer exclaimed.
“It would be awesome. I’ve been there many times for private events and have done concerts there. If we got the ballot, it would be great. Until then, I’m just gonna keep on keeping on.” Someone, please put this guy on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame already!
The rock star’s Rock Foundation has helped plenty of people: “I’m a lifelong type 1 diabetic and the son of a vet. It started out working with diabetics and wounded warriors and military organizations to make sure they got taken care of when they came home.”
He added, “People see exactly where their money goes. When people put money in, if something costs more, I’ll pay out of my own pocket.” That’s so sweet of him. It’s so nice to see celebrities opening charity organizations and truly giving back.
Bret Michaels also started a scented candles line: “I didn’t expect to do candles. My guitar player Pete formed a great candle company. We’ve had a big demand for them. People like the scents of roses or thorns, and we found a good one. I honestly knew nothing about it other than it smelled great.”
“I said if I was going to do this, I didn’t want to do it as a novelty. I went in with Pete, and I think the candles smell good, and I hope people do, too. My whole purpose of being a musician is creating stuff and turning it into something, like with Trop-a-Rocka iced tea that’s still for sale or my pet stuff. All of that was supposed to be one or two-year deals, but it’s still going many years later.”
In January 1997, the band Poison made some scary headlines. MTV News reported that Bret Michaels hired a private investigator to look into the reasons for increasing safety threats. The previous year, Michaels said his house was set on fire, his dog was killed, and his truck was tampered with (his tire fell off while he was driving).
Michaels believed that the reason for all these assaults on his life and property was intimidation and revenge for not selling certain tapes he made with his ex-girlfriend, Baywatch hottie Pamela Anderson.
Nevertheless, in 1998, a company under the name Internet Entertainment Group commercially released a video full of footage of Bret Michaels and Pamela Anderson’s intimate encounters and steamy night together. They said they obtained the video from “a non-disclosed authorized source.”
Michaels did not authorize the video and didn’t want it to come out. He spent $100,000 trying to stop the release of the tape, according to his lawyer. As it turned out, the footage was stolen and leaked by one of Michaels’ former employees. You can’t trust anyone these days!
ABC News reported that Bret Michaels dealt with a string of concerning and potentially fatal medical emergencies back in April 2010. Earlier that month, the singer was all ready to go on stage and perform a concert in San Antonio when he suddenly got sick.
Michaels wanted to perform anyway but was soon rushed to the hospital instead where he underwent an emergency appendectomy. Michaels wrote on his website: “They told me that if I had gone on stage like I wanted to, [his appendix] likely would have ruptured, and I could have died.”
Two weeks later, the singer was resting and recovering at home when he heard “what sounded like a handgun,” he told People. However, the loud popping sound wasn’t a bullet; it was something internal. He realized he couldn’t think straight, speak correctly, or even move his head. Michaels asked his girlfriend at the time, Kristi Gibson, to take him to the hospital.
That’s where he was diagnosed with a massive subarachnoid hemorrhage – bleeding at the base of his brain stem. The rock star was in critical condition when the doctors diagnosed him, but they treated the cause of the bleeding. Michaels made a full recovery after some physical therapy.
