In the 1980s, the Queen of Soul met the Soul Men! Franklin played Mrs. Murphy, Matt “Guitar” Murphy’s wife, in Blues Brothers. In the film, Aretha got to show off her powerful singing voice when she performed a longer version of the song “Think,” her 1968 hit! In her autobiography, Franklin said, “The Blues Brothers was something I enjoyed making tremendously.”

“It was my debut film. The only thing I didn’t really like about it was the hours.” The singer went on to say, “I had a lot of fun with Belushi, and Dan Aykroyd – great guys – a big sense of humor, and very professional and astute. So I had a good time. It makes everything so much easier when you’re having fun and enjoying what you’re doing.”
