The Truth About The Queen Of Soul: Aretha Franklin

Staying Grounded

Do you think Aretha Franklin takes a plane, train, or car? The answer is none! It turns out, the singer is extremely scared of flying and takes her tour bus everywhere, but it wasn’t always like this. In 1982, there was an incident where she was on a plane that hit some bad turbulence. Ever since then, Franklin prefers to be on the ground. She said, “I’ve been to California from Detroit four times this year and Florida.

She continued stating, “I go wherever I choose to go comfortably on my custom tour bus.” I can’t argue with her there. I’m also not the biggest fan of flying. Unfortunately, I don’t have a tour bus, so I do need to take planes at times. Cavanaugh declared February 16th to be Aretha Franklin Day. Considering February is Black History Month, the timing turned out to be perfect.
