The Man Behind The Chicken: The Life and Career of the Legendary Kenny Rogers

His Hippie Days

It may be hard to believe, but before Kenny Rogers took over the country music scene, he was part of a jazz trio and a psychedelic hippie pop band. I know; I can’t picture it either! The musician got his ears pierced and let his hair grow long and wild. He was also the lead singer of the band, The First Edition.

You probably don’t recognize the name, but you probably heard their music, well at least one of their songs. The track, Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In), was featured in the popular 1968 movie, The Big Lebowski. Can you believe that Kenny Rogers used to be a hippie? Oh, how times have changed.
